Zinc- Lead - Silver - Gold

The project areas cover approximately 40 km of the Snelling-Cygnet fault zone marking the southern margin of the Gawler Craton, which is at depth here. This fault zone is the focus of a widespread hydrothermal alteration/vein system characterised by base metal and gold occurrences scattered along much of its length. Six small historical mines occur along the zone and from which Pb, Ag, Au and Zn were recovered.

Rich sphalerite (Zn) mineralisation appears to be associated with fine quartz veining in altered metagreywacke.

Widespread lead mineralisation is indicated by anomalous soil geochemistry at the Dewrang Prospect.

Shallow reconnaissance drilling, including some undertaken by Havilah Resources NL, discovered widespread precious and base metal mineralisation with thick (up to 5m) intersections of zinc ranging from 3.6% to 26.9% and lead from <1% to 9.4% in the Grainger mine area.

These results lie within a broader halo of lower grade disseminated zinc and lead mineralisation that includes 14 metres of Zn up to 1.27 % and 10 m of 0.50 % Pb.

Drilling confirms the existence of significant disseminated basemetal mineralisation at Grainger at shallow depths over a strike length of at least 400 metres.

Drilling shows the blanketing hard pisolitic laterite layer is rarely more than two metres thick, and contains anomalous zinc and lead values, clearly reflecting the mineralised underlying bedrock. The layer may provide a useful exploration tool.

The Snelling-Cygnet fault zone is marked by a distinct linear magnetic low, presumably caused by magnetite destruction in the Kanmantoo host rocks and is frequently marked by interlacing intensely sericitised shears. Significantly, Grainger is centrally located at a prominent kink in the fault zone.
